Quitting

(This is a web only review, exclusive to this site)
Written and directed by Eric Scott for the Centenary Theatre Group
Venue: Chelmer Community Centre

Everybody's doing it. Giving up smoking, that is.
Eric Scott has cleverly identified this fact and written a likeable comedy about it.
Five women who work in the same office are prompted to give up tobacco when one of them has a nasty health shock.
They all have their reasons for taking it up in the first place, and they all have trouble giviing it away.
There's a romantic subplot or two, and some witty one-liners to carry it through.
But the script and the performances could be tighter, and the twist at the end isn't as clever as I wanted it to be.
Still, the largely amateur cast did a pretty good job, and the audience appreciated their efforts.
