Save the Regent

My name is Jason Gann, I am a filmmaker/actor/screenwriter/producer and I hail from Brisbane. I am shocked and appalled that the State Government are considering the closure and possible demolition of such a cultural icon. For many years I trecked, on foot, to the Regent to escape from what can at times be a bleak surrounding cultural landscape. It was in the Regent that I was first inspired to be a filmmaker. As I sit in a Hollywood hotel, fullfilling that childhood dream, it fills me with great sadness that no young potential filmmaker will have a similar rich, cultural experiance. It seems they will be destined to trudge the mult-complex leviathons that are so void of heart or spirit. Shame on the Government body that allows this closure to happen.
