Calling all crafstmen

The Save the Regent Group urgently needs to make contact with any craftsmen involved in the re-fit of Regent Showcase and bar areas in 1979/1980. This may include plasterers or other tradesmen who removed the original plasterwork and fittings and/or those who carefully refitted and re-plastered the Showcase cinema and bar areas. If you can help, or you know of somebody who can help or who did this work, please contact STR via this site urgently. You can send an email by clicking here.

HELP SAVE THE REGENT THEATRE

I put forward a submission concerning the destruction of our beautiful significant historic theatres.
According to the proposal to re-develop the Brisbane's historic Regent theatre. There is no way the site should be re-developed. I looked at the foyer when I last visited Brisbane in 2003. See attached photos
It will always be remembered what sadly was done to the Sydney's beautiful grand Regent theatre and what a disgrace this has been with greed. This destruction will never be forgiven. It has destroyed the most important values and is irreplaceable. It has spoiled the atmosphere with an inappropriate ugly multi storey complex.
It will be in the saga of what has been sadly done especially to so many cinemas over the years. There are only a few remaining.
They were my good times back in the 1970's when I was a kid.
I think modern cinemas are inappropriate (look) in that tizzy, boring, plastic and evil way and not being sympathetic compared to the old cinemas that show their meaning with character..
We must think long-term of preserving traditional looks in that appropriate manner and an economical way.
We also must think positively and respect our environment and our history.
We must think ahead and look at alternative ways where this will encourage patronage and stimulate their life style (attitude).
This will be a way to encourage audiences to cut out pointless behaviour and their phoneyism. The latest scene is causing public nuisance where thrill situation is intimidating and unacceptable.
It requires common respect to handle the behaviour problems and think of long term harmony to the environment.
I don't appreciate the way our society is imitating just about all the things from America concerning threats from racism and violence.
We need to see how technology is bringing us things and to get communication updated in a civilised manner. I am pleased to see invention in machinery equipment but we must look at alternative ways to stimulate how to go about it and control negative attitudes.
We can still be a nation and still import other resources and architecture from any nation without political gambling.
We can still produce films for export as long as this can eliminate violence which can be mirrored by children.
We need to think in terms of more comedies.
We must encourage young and older people to accept a challenge so they be better off in the long-term to help stimulate our own values.
There are always thing to enjoy in life by adapting our population growth.
We can use recyclable material such as stone ware, marble surface and soapstone to help be sympathetic to what has been destroyed with the historic architecture.
We must encourage trades which can take artistic interest in carving installation of crystal glass chandeliers lights, grand stairways and layout of sculpture e.g. statues.
I suggest the stage front to be surrounded with frame work of carving to make a spectacular decoration to help cheer up audiences.
Surely there is a way we can create artistic looks in that fashion.
