Save the Regent

This Multiplex organization seems to spell trouble with their development projects, recently Wembly Stadium now wasn't that an expensive fiasco that made headlines?
Now back home here in fast growing Brisbane Town we have Multiplex troubles here Big Time ! THREE times big time , not one , but all THREE of their high yield money big profit projects are in all sorts of troubled waters in more ways than one !
PORTSIDE our Government believed was going to be the magic magnet to lure Cruise Ships of all major shipping lines ( mostly controlled by Carnival Cruises of Miami Florida) literally , stem to stern , lining up from Moreton Bay to Hamilton to berth at this Multiplex facility to allow well heeled tourists to throw hundred dollar green backs at the locals. Well guess what? A number of the big Cruise Ships don’t fit in the river, so they are all talking about picking up their gang ways and putting them down at the Broadwater on the Gold Coast!
NORTH BANK , already redrawn and modified with smaller towers, is under negotiations again .No matter whether it is forty or four stories of blocks of whatever , the biggest block , according to eminent Architects and Structural Engineers , will be RIVER BLOCKAGE !
It’s what this gigantic slab with its myriad pylons is going to do to our river and all the flotsam and pollution that will turn the water underneath the hugh development into dangerous levels of pollution (just when we are getting our River back to 1930 standards of clear water , after all , we are the River City aren’t we ?)
The Joh Government and his full time staff of Heritage wreckers, the Deen Bros. did a lot of damage to the critically acclaimed, grandest picture palace , auditorium and grand foyer in Australia.
Now Multiplex, in their latest folly, is going force their garish redevelopment on two thirds of our main city block. To achieve this they have to demolish OUR REGENT and turn it into a multi-story car park under a 35 story glass monolithic monstrosity!
Queenslanders and ‘Brissyites’ need another Live Performing Theatre in Town for long running shows like ‘Wicked” and “Priscilla”.
We can restore the REGENT with everyone’s support and the next generation of our kids can have their first date at the Regent like their Mums and their Dads.
The 35 story glass tower, they claim, will be a symbol of Brisbane, like The EIFFEL TOWER of Paris……. Have another look at it, it is going to be Brisbane’s laughing stock , it is going to be the AWFUL TOWER of Brisbane
Give us a Break, It’s our heritage , if it goes ahead ,there just might be a MUTINY! ………………….…… CAPTAIN BLIGH,………………………please just say
NO !.......NO ! TO NORTHBANK ! and NO ! TO THE AWFUL GLASS TOWER!
