Throughout this process, Premier Anna Bligh has been promising a "vibrant arts hub" in the redeveloped Regent. Yet the details have been sketchy at best. Here's a question you might like to pose to your local MP, the Premier, the Deputy Premier or the Infrastructure Minister (See Links for contact details):

Could the Premier or other relevant minister please inform the people of Queensland of the exact length, in terms of years and/or months, of the agreement for BIFF and Screen Queensland to lease office space in the Regent Tower, and for films to be screened to the public, albeit only on weekends and public holidays, at the redeveloped venue?

The new cinemas

I think the proposal to allow the public to see films on the weekend and public holidays is elitist and will alienate the public as why should a so called state of the art new improved cinema be only available to the public on weekends and public holidays. The public won't be making up for the loss of the Regent Cinemas if this happens. It's an us and them thinking.

the greed of bligh

anything you want to buy and destroy is for sale ... anna bligh sanctioned destruction ... would you like a port or some other public asset with that???? this woman will destroy everthing if we dont { collectively } put an end to her reign of terror....mary valley farm anyone...????

My theory: It's intentonally

My theory: It's intentonally set up to fail. Nobody will come and they will use that as an excuse to do something else with the space, for example an extension of the Wintergarden retail area.

Totally Agree

It is abundantly clear that the intention is not success! Why on earth would anyone restrict a site that has for 80 yrs been associated with cinema viewing 7 days a week to weekends and public holidays????

Extend the retail precint of the Wintergarden (Another great cinema RIP) to make way for more of the same retail shops. Perhaps they could squeeze in another JB HiFi, after all they do sell movies, don't they.
